PDUIPH Southern Regional Centre, Secunderabad

The Southern Regional Centre of the Institute was operationalized w.e.f. 4th January 2005 under the administrative control of the Director, Pt. Deendayal Upadhyaya Institute for the Physically Handicapped, New Delhi. The Centre was started in Secunderabad in the premises of NIMH. The services rendered by NIMH were focused mainly on Persons with Mental impairments. Pt. DUIPH, New Delhi started providing services to the persons with locomotor disabilities. At present, the Centre is located in the Boy’s Hostel Block of NIMH. The NIMH has also extended co-operation by a allocating land for construction of our own building so as to provide rehabilitation services to all types of disabilities in one campus.

The main aim of the Centre is to help the needy persons with orthopaedic disabilities by giving Aids & Appliances such as Artificial Limbs, Calipers, Tri-cycles, Wheel Chairs, Crutches, Walking Sticks, Surgical Boots splints etc. under the ADIP Scheme of Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Govt. of India.

Workshop for fabrication of calipers, artificial limbs etc. has been established in the Centre. All the calipers & artificial limbs which were distributed in the follow-up / fitment camp were fabricated in the workshop
