Long Term Courses
One of the main objectives of the Institute is human resource development in the field of rehabilitation. To achieve the same, the Institute is conducting following long term courses:-
- Bachelor of Physical Therapy (BPT)
- Bachelor of Occupational Therapy (BOT)
- Bachelor of Prosthetics & Orthotics (BPO)
- These courses are of 4½ years duration each and are affiliated to the University of Delhi.
- Bridge Course in Prosthetics and Orthotics of one year duration to equalize diploma holders to degree/graduate level was started in the Institute w.e.f. November 2005. The Institute acted as a study centre for 40 students admitted in the course in affiliation with Jagad Guru Rambhadra-charya Handicapped University, Chitrakoot U.P. The annual examination was conducted in December, 2008 January, 2009. The declaration of result and award of degree will be accomplished by JRH University, Chitrakoot U.P.
Mode of Admission
The candidates are admitted to the Bachelor of Physical Therapy/ Occupational Therapy/Prosthetics & Orthotics through an Entrance Test conducted every year in the month of June/July. Common entrance test for admissions in the Institute was conducted by University of Delhi, South Campus, Benito Zuarez Road, New Delhi, this year on 15.06.2008. A total of 607 candidates appeared for the test. The Institute used videography and other stringent measures to identify the malpractice users and impersonators in the entrance test so as to ensure fair selection of deserving candidates. Students were admitted category-wise as per the merit list of entrance test prepared by University of Delhi.
Eligibility
The candidates seeking admission to the courses of Bachelor of Physical Therapy, Bachelor of Occupational Therapy and Bachelor of Prosthetics & Orthotics must have passed one of the following examinations:
- Senior School Certificate Examination of the Central Board of Secondary Education (12th standard of 10+2 system) or an examination recognised as equivalent thereto with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English (PCBE) for BPT/BOT/BPO and Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and English (PCME) for BPO, provided the student has passed in each subject separately.
- Indian School Certificate Examination of the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examination or equipment with PCBE for BPT/BOT and PCBE/PCME for BPO.
- Intermediate/Pre-medical Examination or equivalent with PCBE for BPT/BOT and PCBE/PCME for BPO.
- The candidates who have passed one of the above examinations with PCME are eligible for BPO course only.
The candidates should have a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate in above mentioned four subjects for general category and 45% for Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe/Physically Handicapped and Children/Widows of Armed Personnel including Paramilitary Personnel category. The Candidates should have completed 17 years of age on or before the 1st day of October of admission year. The maximum age limit is 23 years for General category & others and 28 years for SC/ST/PH category candidates.
Intake Capacity
The existing intake capacity of students in Bachelor of Physiotherapy & Bachelor of Occupational Therapy was 42 students each and 24 students in Bachelor of Prosthetics & Orthotics during last year. It was increased to 49 students each in BPT and BOT and 28 students in BPO to implement 2nd phase of reservation of seats for the OBC category students.

Reservation of seats
15% and 7.5% seats are reserved for the candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribe (ST) categories respectively. One seat each in all the three degree courses was reserved for the students with physical disabilities (PH).
Reservation is also provided to foreign nationals (FN), children and widows of the armed personnel (CWAPP) who died on duty and to the candidates belonging to states, where such training facilities are not available (STNA).
Implementation of Central Education Institutions (Reservation in Admissions) Act 2006
The Institute implemented 2nd phase of reservation for the OBC category students and increased intake capacity of BPT & BOT courses by another 20 percent so as to provide benefit of reservation (20% reservation) to OBC candidates.
