The composition of the General Council :-
- The Secretary to the Government of India in charge of Social Welfare shall be the President of the Council.
- Two prominent social workers to be nominated by the Government of India.
- One prominent medical practitioner to be nominated by the Government of India.
- An officer designated by the Ministry of Finance, Government of India.
- A representative of the Department of Social Welfare.
- Director of the Institute who shall be the Member-Secretary of the General Council.
- Not more than ten persons who in the opinion of the Government of India are experienced or knowledgeable either in the field of social welfare or in management of public finance who shall be nominated by the government of India.
Term of Office of General Council
The term of office of the nominated members except the President shall ordinarily be two years. The tenure of office can, however, be reduced or extended at the pleasure of the nominating authority, Nominated members shall be eligible for re-nomination.
Meetings of the General Council
The General Council shall meet as many times in a year as deemed necessary, provided, however, that there shall be an interval of not less than three months between two successive meetings:
